Timari Blanke

Ever since I was a kid I’ve loved making art, and this is something my whole family’s been very supportive of. I live with my parents, my brother, my fish and my dog. My artwork is something I’ve always used as a way to experience things I otherwise wouldn’t be able to. Around 7th grade I enrolled in an after-school art class. This gave me a lot of encouragement, and technical skills that I hadn’t even realized existed before.

Now most of my life is centered around art, through doodling on notes, watching videos and movies, personal projects or working in conservatory. Right now, I’d say I’m really dedicated to working in all the art mediums that I can, though I do mostly paint in acrylics because they’re inexpensive and easy to work with. I’m really proud of the improvements I’ve seen in my art since coming to OCSA, and I can’t wait to keep building upon the work that went into them.

My future plans… In the future, I can only hope that there is as much art in my life as there is today. This fall, I’ll be attending Laguna College of Art and Design as an Art Major (Painting and Drawing). When I have more free time, I plan on entering art competitions as a way to continue developing my skills. As a side note, I think my conservatory time has been a really good way to prepare for art contests. Besides competitions though, I want to find time for working on personal projects (what I have in mind is mostly stop motion and 3D art). I’m also interested in taking commissions, which I haven’t had much time for so far this year. In any case, I’m excited to see where my future takes me!

My advice for my younger OCSA Classmates-
The best piece of advice I have is to follow the serotonin. By that I just mean to do things you enjoy and things that make you happy. Progress, success, and those kinds of things will come with it sooner or later.
