Joyce Lee
I grew up in Orange County, living in the same house since birth. Ever since I was young, I was attracted to cute illustrations, cute books, and all things bright. My artwork style reflects that personality however its main subject - as of recently - is personal anecdotes and observations of the world around me whether it be darker issues in media or of the global pandemic.
Art has always been one of my greatest passions and has developed in a way parallel to my personality: slow moving and at times, remarkably inefficient. I love analog processes and slow-tedious handwork which gives reason to why I prefer to work in paints or mixed media.
My future plans…
I plan on majoring in studio art or illustration at a university or art school. My personal goals for art are to explore more mediums, gain new stories, and improve in my academics to gain leverage points for my art. In college, I hope to minor in film or cinema studies, study abroad, and maybe publish some children's books along the way.
In five years I see myself ready to work in the creative field wherever that may be, using all the experiences I've had since high school to become a master story-teller. My advice for my younger OCSA Classmates-
Advice I have for younger OCSA students is to have your friends' backs, stay original, and appeal for the school bathrooms to be fixed.
