My name is John Scane, my students call me Mr. Scane. I teach Advanced Oil Painting for 10th, 11th and 12th grade students
I grew up in Southern California and have been an artist since I was young. I've exhibited my paintings worldwide and my work is in many collections. While I consider myself primarily a painter I also use and explore other mediums including, woodworking (furniture design and crafting) and photography (primarily nature & landscape). For the past couple of years, I have been making videos for my YouTube channel which is about a current project I'm working on titled the GRANDIOSE project. I love to travel and have been to over 25 countries and 39 of the United States. I have a 9 year old daughter that I am very proud of, who loves singing (future OCSA student?) and speaks Chinese and Spanish fluently. We currently live in the San Gabriel Valley.

Can you share some of your favorite class projects for the Fall 2020 semester?
I really like the students’ color study charts and their final "free painting project" where students created personal work.
